who we are

We're all about adventure

Hope is a comfortable 45' Delta fully equipped for your ultimate Alaskan Adventure.

Our signature trips are a combination of sightseeing and salmon and halibut fishing, but we can accommodate surf charters, packraft and kayak expeditions, remote lodge drops, and private multi day excursions as well.

You're in good hands

Captain Jason Mulloy

Captain Jason Mulloy has been at the helm of Hope for the past 15 years, and as of the 2019 season is both the owner and operator of Alaska Coastal Explorer.

Jason has held his US Coast Guard 100 Ton Master’s license for nearly two decades, and has run boats in Hawaii, Southern California, Seward, Alaska, and as far north as the Chukchi Sea in the Arctic Circle. A former Navy Man, he was stationed on the USS Constellation based out of San Diego before finding his way out to Maui.

Jason spends his winters sailing and kitesurfing in the warm Pacific Tradewinds, and during the summer enjoys exploring, fishing, and surfing the coasts of Southcentral Alaska. His favorite part about running a boat out of Seward? Being immersed in the rugged and beautiful wilderness — and yelloweye rockfish, of course.

First Mate Garret Bons

This season will be Garret’s 5th summer with Alaska Coastal Explorer, and we couldn’t be more stoked to have him on board.

Originally from Utah, Garret loves the wide open spaces found in Alaska and the opportunity to wander and explore. He’s a bad ass snowboarder, a mean unicyclist, and quite possibly the most passionate fisherman we’ve ever met.

When he’s not out crewing with us, you can bet Garret’s off grid somewhere, roaming the wilderness with a fly rod, perhaps a good book, and most definitely his furry companion Gnarles. He’s quick with a gaff and filet knife, has no shortage of fish stories, and his easy going nature tends to make our guests feel like it’s a day spent on the water with friends.

Debbie Jean

Often operating behind the scenes, Debbie Jean is the one making sure the ship sails smoothly from shore. She’s our in-house photographer and social media manager, handles lots of our bookings, and also ensures that as a business we’re doing our best to stay in line with our values.

In addition to being a US Coast Guard certified boat captain, Debbie Jean is a surfer, sailor, snowboarder, free diver, yogi, and passionate advocate for the environment.
